Power Violence is a comedy collective based in Los Angeles, by way of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Santa Maria, California. Established in 1999 by skateboarders Whitmer Thomas and Clay Tatum and jocks Rodney Berry and Budd Diaz, the group incorporates music, video, and participatory sketch comedy in their chaotic, hardcore punk-inspired live performances. The group also hosts a monthly night in Silverlake, California featuring guest comedians and musicians. The stated theme of a Power Violence show is “extreme friendship”—between the group, their guests, and the audience.
