High Plains Comedy Festival is a comedy festival held each August in Denver, Colorado. Founded in 2013 by Denver comedian/writer Adam Cayton-Holland, the Festival features a mix of local and national comics in venues throughout the city—with a special emphasis on the historic Baker neighborhood surrounding South Broadway. High Plains has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talent-packed and fun-filled Festivals in the country.
Festival Founder & Executive Director
Despite being born into a white, upper-middle class family, Adam Cayton-Holland has been able to overcome the numerous non-existent hurdles that have faced him to become by far the funniest comedian on his block. Named one of “25 Comics to Watch” by Esquire Magazine, Adam is a national touring headliner who plays clubs and colleges all over the country.
Most recently, Adam made his late-night television debut on Conan. Other recent appearances include Comedy Central’s@midnight, ABC’s Happy Endings, The Pete Holmes Show, and a feature on the Nerdist podcast. He’s also participated in comedy festivals like the Montreal Just For Laughs, SXSW, Bridgetown Comedy and Rooftop Comedy festivals. Last May Adam joined L.A. comics Brody Stevens and Howard Kremer on Funny or Die’s “Road 2 Oddball Tour.”
Adam, along with comedians Ben Roy and Andrew Orvedahl, comprise The Grawlix, a trio that hosted a wildly popular monthly show in Denver for three years and created a mockumentary-style web series following their backstage exploits. The troupe created a pilot for Amazon Studios called Those Who Can’t, which was refilmed for TruTV in late 2014. The show's first season aired in early 2016 to critical and audience acclaim, and will be back for a second season later in 2016.
